Ever since Ashlyn was born she always woke up with crusty eyes. We've known that it was because she had a clogged tear duct, but didn't really know what that meant. Come to find out when you have a clogged tear duct your eye doesn't drain the tears properly. This is a problem because Ashlyn's eye was infected and we didn't even know it, until I mentioned the crusty eyes to the dr. one day. I guess babies having a clogged tear duct is actually very common, but it usually fixes itself by three months, and usually is not seen in 6 months or older babies. And that's why she had to have surgery. I was freaking out because they had to put her under and she couldn't eat after midnight the night before. She usually wakes up at about 2:30/3:00 in the AM to eat and I didn't know how I was going to be able to not feed her and keep my sanity. So we decided to wake her up at 10:00 PM and we feed her at 11:00. Below is a picture of her trying to go back to sleep. She wasn't very happy with us. And above is a picture before she went into surgery. They put a purple dot above her eye so the dr. would know which eye to do the surgery on. Even though I was freaking out, everything went perfect. Later that day after everything calmed down she didn't even act like anything happened.
